| Description: |
A food ingredient manufacturer is seeking a Field Service Technician to join their team. The Field Service Technician will report to the Regional Workshops and Spares Manager and the role involves visiting clients all over Gauteng to repair machinery that is too large to transport. The duties include, but are not limited to, troubleshooting and repairing of complex machinery in a professional and timely manner; reading and understanding manuals, blueprints, diagrams, mechanical schematics, and electrical diagrams; running trials and tests on equipment and interpreting the result into further recommendations; undertaking installation, commissioning, and training on equipment; writing up reports based on findings and service on equipment; performing routine maintenance on complex equipment at site or in the workshop; have the ability to work under minimal supervision and use technical judgement on complex tasks; prompt assistance and advice to customers with queries or breakdowns in an appropriate manner; ensure customers’ expectations are exceeded in respect to quality and service; respond immediately to requests for workshop breakdowns to customers; action customer services as per schedule; analyse the cause of the problem; arrange quotes for customers to authorize repairs; arrange acquiring of spares to complete the job; maintain safety standards both in-house and at customers; and form part of the standby team. |

The ideal candidate should have a matric certificate and be a trade tested qualified Millwright with an electrical background. 3–5 Years’ experience as a service technician or workshop technician in the FMCG sector is required. A valid driver’s license is required as the role includes extensive travel. The Field Service Technician must be available for on-call duty every second week, which may include weekends. |
