Description:A Biotech startup is seeking a Bacteria Team Lead to oversee and manage all bacterial production processes and operations assigned to the team, relating to both new and established processes in Production. The ideal candidate would have direct experience in upscaling bacterial/cell culture cultivation processes in industry according to regulatory guidelines. The duties will include, but are not limited to, ensuring all equipment required by the team for production purposes is functional, compliant with all quality requirements (IQ, OQ, PQ), and maintained according to an appropriate schedule; ensuring all solutions and media are prepared according to specifications and CBT quality guidelines; overseeing the transformation of input to output materials according to process specifications; facilitating and managing the upscaling of production activities within the domain of the Team Lead; efficient planning to ensure production timelines and output requirements are met; proposing and looking for opportunities to save production costs (lean manufacturing); overseeing and managing any project-related and/or technology transfers into the team; reviewing production data produced by the team; batch and quality documentation of all processes and outputs that fall within the scope of the team’s production domain; complying to quality standards (measured as number batch books per month returned by QA or number of reviews required of documentation (> 2)); drafting the team’s maintenance and materials budget; contributing towards stock taking initiatives as required by the finance department; providing expertise and sourcing of any equipment required for the team or upscaling/tech transfers to other sites; ensuring enough stock levels of shared resources to meet production and R&D requirements; delivering against timelines; contributing to R&D activities which may generate improved processes and optimal input materials; continuous upkeep and cleaning of the lab areas within which the team operates; communicating with warehousing regarding low and incomplete stock levels and project future requirements; adherence to and enforcement of good manufacturing practices, health, and safety standards, as well as security protocols; adherence to biosafety as per BSL requirements; and problem solving. Additionally, the Bacteria Team Lead may be required to support Research and Development activities, process optimization, EHS Awareness, and act as Biosafety Officer.
Key Requirements:MEng or MSc in Bioengineering and 1–2 years’ relevant industry experience. Experience working in a GMP or ISP regulated environment is preferred and experience in equipment and process validation is advantageous.
Additional Requirements:Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word, demonstrated attention to detail and strong organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, proven ability to meet deadlines and work under aggressive timelines, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
