A supplier of laboratory equipment and analytical instruments is seeking an External Sales Representative to join their team. The duties will include, but are not limited to, mapping sales territories in terms of high potential/high value clients; establishing decision-making protocols, processes and role-players within client companies; presenting, promoting, and selling company products/services using solid arguments to existing and prospective customers; Cold Calling and lead generation; achieving agreed upon sales targets and outcomes within schedule; supplying management with reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services; formulating client development plans to achieve set sales targets; planning sales call diary one month in advance; attending weekly review meetings – alternating one-on-one and group review; reporting daily on previous day’s activities, i.e. outcome of sales calls, quotations completed, etc.; providing necessary information to feed into key performance indicators; completing trip sheets accurately and timeously, on a weekly basis; making and confirming appointments with key decision role players; conducting sales interface calls that lead to meaningful outcomes; updating on-line call logs; ensuring that CRM data is accurate and up to date; new customer development; identifying all potential consumption zones with client organisations; categorising all clients in terms of their current value and growth potential; ensuring that business opportunities are identified across the range of company products; liaising with the marketing manager and product managers for support programmes and materials; conducting group and individual presentations to decision making units within client companies; and providing advice and service via telephone and on-site, where necessary and viable. |
Key Requirements: |
A science degree or diploma, 2–5 years’ sales experience, and experience working in a laboratory/scientific environment. Experience in generating sales in an interface environment and in the end-user selling environment. Experience working in a laboratory/scientific environment beneficial. Driver’s license and own car required. |
Additional Requirements: |
The candidate should have negotiating, good administrative, planning and organising, time management, problem solving, verbal and written communication, interpersonal and listening skills. The candidate should be highly computer literate and have Microsoft Office skills and have the ability to gather market intelligence. |
