Description: |
A supplier of laboratory equipment is looking for a Product Manager to join their team. The duties will include, but are not limited to: Identify business opportunities for product brands. Assist external sales representatives to map territories in terms of growth potential and established value. Set sales targets for each product brand. Formulate strategies and plans to achieve sales targets for each product brand. Align plans and strategies with sales plans of external sales representatives. Set up sales call diary one week in advance – by close of play on Friday. Attend monthly review meetings – alternating one-on-one and group review. Report daily on previous day’s activities i.e. outcome of sales calls, quotations completed etc. Provide necessary information to feed into key performance indicators. Complete trip sheets accurately and timeously, on a weekly basis. Conduct sales appointments in conjunction with external sales representatives. Arrange and conduct strategy presentations. Generate quotations for more complicated enquiries. Provide technical training to sales staff. Promote cross-selling at every opportunity in order to increase basket size. Ensure that delivery and installation arrangements are completed quickly and accurately. Arrange and conduct User training – in conjunction with the team leader and the general manager. Conduct research into new market sectors – regarding needs, consumption patterns, current suppliers and brand utilized. Assist sales representatives to identify all potential consumption zones with client organizations. Provide sales representatives with advice regarding the nature of product consumption by customer, sector type. Ensure that business opportunities are identified across the range of products. Liaise with the marketing manager and fellow product managers for support programmes and materials. Conduct group and individual presentations to decision making units within client companies. Provide advice and service via telephone and on-site where necessary and viable. Conduct competitive product comparisons. Keep abreast of technological and economic developments. Manage loan equipment. Maintain product price list to be competitive and profitable. Liaise with suppliers regarding terms and conditions of agency agreement. Negotiate best prices and supply terms. Minimise supply lag periods. Ensure adequate holding of stock items. Enhance the product range. |
Key Requirements: |
Relevant scientific qualification with 3–5 years’ sales experience. Previous experience working in a laboratory/scientific environment will be beneficial. Valid driver’s license and own transport essential. |

The ideal candidate should have great negotiation, administration, planning, organizing, time management, problem solving, communication, inter-personal, and listening skills. Ability to work in a cross-functional team. Excellent computer skills. |
