A cheese producer is looking for a Food Safety Officer to join their team. Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Ensure the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Food Safety System (HACCP, SANS 10330). Align systems with legal, regulatory, and customer requirements, and oversee documentation, procedures, and change control. Lead internal audits, GMP inspections, and customer or third-party audits. Drive corrective and preventative actions and ensure readiness for certification (e.g., Halaal, Kosher, customer-specific requirements). Maintain all necessary records, approvals, and updates. Manage, support, and develop the Quality Assurance Team. Identify training needs, coordinate competency-based training, and ensure a strong quality and food safety culture across the manufacturing operation. Investigate non-conformances and customer complaints, oversee root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. Manage the release of finished goods, including verification of COAs/COCs and handling of concessions and product holds. Compile and present regular food safety and quality reports, including trend analyses and management review inputs. Ensure effective internal communication of food safety risks and external communication with service providers and clients. Participate in traceability exercises, recalls, and risk mitigation processes. Manage the procurement and quality of cheese making ingredients and dairy product packaging, as well as maintaining accurate and updated costing records. |
